Solinco Blackout tennis rackets: power, spin and depth
Solinco Blackout tennis rackets are aimed at players who want easy ball acceleration, spin and stability in baseline exchanges. The family uses a 100 square inch head and a 16x19 pattern, a modern combination that enlarges the useful hitting area and supports a higher, deeper trajectory without forcing every stroke.
The category includes 285 and 300 gram versions as well as first- and second-generation models. Blackout 285 prioritises manoeuvrability and racket-head speed; Blackout 300 adds mass and composure for technically established players. V2 retains the power-and-spin identity while refining stability and comfort through revised architecture and Foam Tech Core in current versions.
Which Blackout should you choose?
The correct weight depends on the speed you generate, the time available for preparation and the stability you need against fast incoming balls.
Blackout 285: maximum acceleration
The 285 gram version is easier to move on defence, returns and strokes played under time pressure. It fits intermediate players, transitioning juniors or adults seeking power and spin without the physical demand of a heavier frame.
Blackout 300: competitive balance
At 300 grams, stability and ball penetration increase. It is the most versatile choice for medium or fast swings, aggressive baseline play and players who want a heavier ball while retaining confidence on serve and at the net.
V1 or V2: the same identity with refined feel
The first generation delivers the explosive character that defines Blackout. V2 adds revised architecture and foam in the hoop to soften vibration and improve impact feel. The update does not remove power; it aims to make that power more controlled and comfortable.

Geometry designed to return energy to the ball
Blackout places maximum beam height around the five and seven o'clock areas of the hoop. This zone changes frame flex and strengthens the bridge to reduce energy loss. The objective is a lively, deep response without relying only on the player's physical force.
40T carbon fibre reinforces the three and nine o'clock areas to increase stability and the effective hitting zone. Liquid Crystal Technology is incorporated to tune flex and reduce vibration, while V2 architecture targets a cleaner and more consistent response.
Manage depth without blocking spin
A progressive polyester can exploit the 16x19 pattern and contain power, particularly for players with fast acceleration. For greater comfort or a medium swing, a hybrid or more elastic string at moderate tension produces depth without making impact unnecessarily firm.
Avoid raising tension simply because the racket is powerful. Excessive tension can reduce the useful hitting zone and make you swing harder. Gauge should reflect breakage, spin and replacement frequency; the string must work with the frame rather than against it.
