VCORE family guide

Yonex VCORE: aerodynamic spin and acceleration to shape the ball

Yonex VCORE rackets are built for players who want to turn swing speed into rotation, controlled net clearance and a ball that drops aggressively inside the court. The eighth generation develops spin through four areas—sweet spot, snapback, speed and stability—so different swing styles can access a heavier response.

The Ipontennis selection covers seven active models from 245 to 305 grams. VCORE 98 and 100 are the main performance references; 98L and 100L reduce mass for faster handling; VCORE Alpha, Alpha L and Alpha SL provide progression options. This breadth keeps the spin concept while adjusting demand, stability and preparation speed.

Before deciding, compare the model with your current racket while keeping string, tension and grip size consistent. Perception changes between a short hit and a complete session, so include serve, return, high balls, defence and strokes played under fatigue.

How to choose within the VCORE range

The family shares one identity, but weight and geometry determine how much help it provides and how much technical demand it adds.

01

VCORE 98 or VCORE 100

VCORE 98 promotes a more direct trajectory and precise contact for fast swings. VCORE 100 adds margin, launch and easier spin depth. Do not choose only by level: consider where you contact the ball, how much net clearance you create and whether you need extra tolerance in defence.

02

From 245 to 305 grams

Alpha models at 245, 260 and 275 grams support learning and acceleration. The 280-285 gram L versions balance mobility with response. VCORE 100 at 300 grams is a versatile club option, while VCORE 98 at 305 grams demands cleaner preparation and rewards its additional mass.

03

Useful spin, not rotation alone

The goal is not maximum curve on every shot but a combination of spin, depth and direction. A frame that is too light may lose stability against pace; one that is too heavy may arrive late. The correct option preserves racquet-head speed and control when the point accelerates.

These alternatives show whether the character of VCORE truly matches your trajectory and sustainable swing speed.

EZONE

Yonex EZONE rackets

Controllable power, a generous sweet spot and comfort for easier acceleration. The current selection includes six models from 245 to 305 grams, with EZONE 98, 100, 100L and Alpha alternatives.

VCORE

VCORE 2026 develops the four variables behind spin

The new VCORE combines revised aerodynamic geometry with ISOMETRIC, 2G-Namd Flex Force, Servo Filter and VDM. The design targets faster frame movement, greater string movement and stability on strong contact. On VCORE 100, the 16x19 pattern and variable beam support a spin response with usable power.

Feel changes between 98, 100 and Alpha. Mainline models use materials and construction aimed at higher performance, while Alpha reduces technical and financial demand for progressing players. The choice should respect swing speed, contact quality and the amount of weight you can manage through a complete session.

Final decision

Strings complete the response

A more elastic string adds comfort and depth; a control-oriented monofilament can organise launch when swing speed is sufficient. In both cases, excessive tension reduces the usable sweet spot and may harden impact. Gauge and replacement frequency matter as much as the chosen tension.

Do not automatically copy a professional setup. Their speed, physical preparation and restringing frequency are not comparable with normal club use. The best combination preserves control, comfort and confidence for a complete match, including the moments when footwork becomes less precise.
